Woodbury Firefighters dropped cloths and polish for the new Rescue 3 Firetruck and responded to two callouts for motor vehicle accidents at the start of the final week in July.  The halted preparation for a spotless truck was for a presentation to the Board of Finance on the 29^th. It was cancelled due to weather. “We are always ready, and runs always take precedence,” said Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan.  In both accidents, firefighters disconnected battery cables to prevent sparks igniting fires from fuel spills or violent reactions from battery acid. Since January 1^st, the volunteer firefighters have geared up more than 230 times. The total includes 83 hazardous events including car crashes, 19 fires, 9 requests for medical assistances, 42 public service runs, and about 80 others in varying categories. The new $830,000 rescue truck was accepted unanimously in a formal vote by firefighters on July 22^nd. In addition to inspecting the truck, Finance Board members are also scheduled to view the six-minute documentary created by Firefighter Sbarge. He is an Emmy Award winner in the documentary class.  He is well-known as an actor, producer, and director in New York, Hollywood, and London.  If all goes well, both the truck and the video will take the lead at a Finance meeting in August or September.
