The Woodbury Volunteer Fire Dept received a check for $3,000 on November 8th, at their monthly meeting, towards the cost of replacing the thermal imaging camera.
Thermal Imaging Camera’s or “TIC’s” as firefighters calling it, are a critical piece of fire-fighting and rescue equipment, says Chief Morgan. They detect heat sources such as people trapped and unconscious or hidden by smoke, burning embers behind walls, hot electrical shorts that can ignite a fire, and many other heat-driven situations that are invisible to the naked eye. “We are truly grateful for this thoughtful contribution,” Chief Morgan said.
The money for the camera was raised through a costume party event that gathered more than a hundred persons, both adults and children, at a community Halloween party in the town’s Senior Center on October 31st. In addition, the coalition collected money around town. Roberts said donations ranged in size from a $100 bill donated at a collection point in front of LaBonne’s Market to a child’s contribution of seventy-five cents at Ace Hardware.

The Coalition is a community service organization created this year, said Roberts. A former Marine who served in Vietnam, Roberts says the next objective for the non-political Coalition is a fund-raiser for the volunteer Woodbury Ambulance Association.
