Veteran Woodbury Firefighters Enjoy Brunch; Chief Praises Bravery in Protecting Neighbors

WOODBURY – Nearly 20 former Woodbury Volunteer Firefighters were welcomed at a veteran firefighters brunch Sunday July 28th held in the 1754 House.  Among those present (l-r) were Chet Weed, Anne Elsenboss, Stuart Clarke,  Jeanne Lyle, Bud Hatstat, Kevin Robison , and Dave Packer; Representing the now-inactive ladies auxiliary were (l-r) Donna Dains, Anne Elsenboss, Jeanne Lyle, Helen Burdick, Maryellen Warner, and Judi Kiessling

 

Early arrivals included veteran Engine 7, a 1947 Jeep model CJ2A now used only in ceremonial events such as carrying longtime firefighters (l-r) Earl Gillette and Bud Neal to the party.  Gillette responded to 250 fire and rescue callouts in the previous 12 months while Neal is a former department chief.  “We are so grateful for all the years of effort and bravery these firefighters contributed in protecting their neighbors and the town,” summed up Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan.

Aside from the brunch, officials said the Woodbury Fire Dept also rescued a hiker and dealt with a motor vehicle accident during the weekend
