The Woodbury Volunteer Fire Dept will host its free annual Kids Fishing Derby in honor of the Late chief Mel Snyder on Saturday morning May 10th and its annual Mothers Day Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning May 11th. “We love our neighbors,” says Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan, adding. “and even with this social weekend, we are ready to roll to any call-out.” She noted that the department is averaging its usual load of slightly more than one runs a day so far this year. The signposted fishing derby will run Saturday from 8a to 11:30a at a pond on Railtree Hill Road stocked with at least three kinds of trout for kids to catch. The pancake breakfast is at department headquarters 25 Quassuk Road from 7 to 11a on Sunday. A small fee will be charged for a large breakfast of pancakes with or without berries, as well as bacon, and beverages. In last year’s photo a group of happy fisherfolk and family waved goodbye after the children’s event.
