Woodbury Firefighters Battle House Blaze on New Year’s Eve

Woodbury Firefighters and mutual aid companies successfully battled a house fire at 316 Weekeepeemee Road on New Year’s Eve, Dec 31st, 2025.  No injuries were reported and Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan says the cause is under investigation. “We contained the fire to the room of origin and the roof in a full response,” she said, adding, “We believe the house is repairable.”

Woodbury’s all-out response included five fire trucks and 28 firefighters plus mutual aid from Bethlehem, Southbury, and Watertown fire departments with trucks and another 10 firefighters. Fire Lt Jason Hatstat of Woodbury’s Hotchkissville Company, was the incident officer in charge reporting directly to Chief Morgan who was onsite. The fire was first reported at 7:22pm and under control shortly thereafter. It was officially declared out by fire marshals around midnight.
