Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department members trained with their new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in a live-fire exercise hosted by the state fire academy in Litchfield on Saturday Nov 12, 2022. About to enter a burning structure used for drills are (front l-r) Fire Lt Matt Gereg and firefighters Scott Dayton, Ben Paparazzo. Facing them is Deputy Chief Corey Shaker. At far right is a state instructor. The Woodbury Department recently received thirty new SCBAs at a cost of nearly $300,000 to replace outdated, 30-year-old equipment. The surplus gear was deemed obsolete by US fire safety standards and donated to Ukraine fire departments where it will finish its service life.
