The Woodbury Volunteer Fire Dept will hold its annual Valentine’s Day Breakfast on Sunday, Feb 15th, 2026, from 7am to 11am at department headquarters 25 Quassuk Road next to US Route 6. “We’ll all enjoy pancakes together,” says Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan. “It’s a happy break for us too. We were on the run last month with 46 callouts including four structure fires,” she added.

The 2026 Valentine’s breakfast event will charge adults $8 or $6 for seniors and children. The breakfast is pancakes, with or without berries, bacon, juice, and coffee or tea. The 2025 breakfast was cancelled due to a late winter snowstorm. Pictured in the 2024 photo are Woodbury Firefighters cooking Mother’s Day pancakes. “We are firefighters first and foremost,” Chief Morgan said in announcing the breakfast.  She noted that January concluded with the fourth house fire of 2026: a blaze January 29th in a 6,000 sq ft home on Transylvania Road with difficult access due to snow.  “Due to the experience of the drivers of the first two trucks, one from Woodbury and one from Southbury, they were able to maneuver through treacherous conditions and get the crew and water to hold the fire to the area of origin. It was not the prettiest way to get water to the scene, but they did it, “she said.

In all, Woodbury’s fire department volunteers responded 427 times last year.  The calls included 28 active fires, 73 rescues mostly from motor vehicle accidents, 56 hazardous situations such as toxic chemical spills, and 35 weather emergencies including downed power lines, as well as more routine calls. “So come along and relax with us Feb 15th over breakfast. Bring your spouse or partner, sweetheart, parents, children or friends. We’ll all enjoy being neighbors,” Chief Morgan said.
