So proud to have passed my FIRE FIGHTER 1 classes and to be able to call myself a Firefighter – Certified FF1. Outside of our big cities, volunteer firefighters are one of the corner stones keeping our towns safe. The training is no cake walk, and the bar is held high so we can arrive on a scene and be as prepared as we can for what’s in front of us. Still so much to learn, and experience only comes with time. But the men and women, First Responders, who have dedicated them selves not just to their communities— but to the training process for rookies like me, are remarkable.
I am so grateful to Captain Pete Morotto and his team of incredible fire fighter teachers who showed up week after week to get us over the finish line. Huge gratitude to the Watertown Firefighters and its members. AND! To Chief Janet Morgan, for opening the door and making it all possible, along with all the members of the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department who cheered me on— thank you!
The Oath of Service we all took last week choked me up. It’s an honor and a privilege to serve along side you.
