WOODBURY – Famed scholar and sculptor Edward “ET” Tufte, at center in a white smock, hosted Woodbury volunteer firefighters and families in a picnic and walking lecture at his 243-acre outdoor sculpture museum on 100 Weekpeemee Rd, Tuesday evening July 9th 2024.
Tufte held his guests enthralled in a wide-ranging discourse ranging from the effects of natural light playing off the sculptures to other works of his that displayed math and physics equations as art. Tufte’s serious opening remarks, however, thanked firefighters for the rapid response to a smoky and dangerous electrical fire at the park’s main building in the recent past. Although the weather forecast predicted a torrential thunderstorm, skies remained clear throughout Tufte’s often witty and personal narrative.
