Ten Woodbury firefighters participated in the drill next to department headquarters 25 Quassuk Rd under the direction of Deputy Chief Corey Shaker and trainers from Mission CIT, headquartered in Tolland CT. With both air and water temps in the low 30s, the aim of the drill was to retain skills needed for coldwater rescue operations in fast-moving streams and rivers. The Woodbury department was in charge of the multi-agency, nighttime-to-dawn search response that recovered the body of CSP Sgt Brian Mohl in September 2021. Mohl was swept away in the same river basin less than a mile away during a massive rainstorm.
