WOODBURY 17 Jun2024—The Woodbury Volunteer Fire Departments Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast drew happy diners Sunday morning June 16th. Among those enjoying flapjacks were not only dads and local community members but also contingents from the Behtlehem and Southbury fire departments.  The event, which began in 1980, is a wonderful event for young and old, families and friends. “Everyone has a good time, from the cooks to those eating the pancakes” says Woodbury Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan. Firefighters enjoy serving fresh hot pancakes to the community three tines a year – Valentines Day, Mothers, and Fathers Day.  It is a way to have the community see the firefighters in another roll within the community.  Some of their wives and children help out also.  It promotes the great spirit of Neighbors helping Neighbors, which is the departments motto.  What if a emergency call come in during a breakfast? – we drop spatulas and pick up firefighting and rescue equipment.”
