Reasons to Join

Volunteering is an enriching experience where you can learn new skills, make lifelong connections, and play an integral role in your community. Become a neighbor helping neighbors. Don’t wait. Join us today!

Purpose: You can make a significant difference in the lives of those around you while working alongside a close-knit group of individuals who share a passion for service.

Use your skills and learn new ones: Emergency responses require a broad range of skills. Each of us brings something important to the work at hand. When we respond, whether it is a chimney fire, an injured hiker, or a serious car accident, every single member brings their value to bear, and collectively, the many talents and skills needed.

Feel part of your community: Our department is a family, and we are integral to Woodbury. Our members give their time and effort in service to the community, which in turn brings us closer to our neighbors and the fabric of life in our small town.

Personal growth: You will receive extensive training and certification opportunities to develop your skills, confidence, and resilience as a first responder. This will benefit you in other areas of your professional career and life.

Teamwork: Volunteer firefighting and emergency rescue response requires a high level of cooperation and collaboration. You will work closely with other firefighters and first responders, building strong bonds with our team and other local agencies.

Safety, equipment, and facilities: Safety is always top priority. Volunteer firefighters in Woodbury train under supervision of certified instructors. We use state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, to help ensure safety and effectiveness during emergency responses
