While the instructional team was preparing for teaching drills, Chief Morgan assisted with annual fit testing. Every year, each firefighter that wears an SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) is required to have an annual fit test. This is to ensure that their face shape or the size of their mask has not changed. The department owns a special machine that puts the firefighter through a series of movements that monitors the air they are breathing while wearing the mask and makes sure that no outside contaminants to enter the mask, thus keeping the firefighters lungs safe during any emergency situation as requires them to “pack up.” Just one more way – we keep our firefighters ready when called to duty.
