Woodbury 24Mar2024— “It’s called ‘Putting the wet on the red,” said Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan of the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Dept. during a drill on pump operations Saturday March 23rd. Pictured (l-r) is an instructor from Mission CIT in Tolland with Woodbury firefighters Haden Ware and Jason Hatstat backing Anthony Delia at the hose nozzle. In this exercise, they are about to force a door to face an unknown fire situation. In a moment, the two-and-half-inch crosslay hose will charge with 125 pounds of water pressure from the department’s Engine 4. Ten Woodbury volunteers participated in the drill at department headquarters on Quassuk Rod under heavy rain and cold wind. “Fires and rescues don’t pay attention to weather,” Chief Morgan said, “so we don’t either. It’s all about helping neighbors at all times.”
