Woodbury Firefighters at End of Labor Day Weekend Carnival

The Woodbury Volunteer Fire Dept rounded up all its firefighters and partners for a photo of them as chefs, servers, and waitpeople at the successful close of the three day annual Labor Day carnival that marks the start of the school year and the end of summer. The firefighting group took a break from battling blazes and conducting rescues to organize the carnival, lay out the area, have a fund-raising raffle, and cook all the food.  — including the famous Oreo cookie dipped in deep fat and fried. The event in Hollow Park drew crowds in the hundreds. It wound up with a half-hour of spectacular fireworks Saturday night August 30th and the promise of another carnival next year in the hundred-year-old tradition.
