Woodbury Firefighters undergo Recertification May 5th

The Woodbury Volunteer Fire Dept recertified nearly 30  members in several firefighting and rescue specialties on Sunday morning May 5th, 2024. Among them  in the semi-annual exercise were (photo l-r) Firefighter Corey Shaker, Fire Lt. Mark Mastrangelo, and Fire Capt. Steve Cunningham.  They are reloading 150-foot lengths of color-coded 2.5 inch crosslay hoses on Engine 4 after use with a water pressure flow of 125 pounds per square inch. The department was practicing a new hose pack to help the speed and efficiency of deployment. In addition firefighters rotated among refresher stations for chainsaw and powered cutting tool usage, UATV driving, managing the pump on Brush truck 7, and radio comms.  All of their firefighting gear was inspected for proper fit and age.  Six new sets of gear was order, which had been budgeted for in this years budget.  Two sets were replacing gear that was 10 years and four went to new trainees that had gear that fit but was was not sized for them.   The Association of the Woodbury Fire Department presented the member with now dress uniform, replacing uniforms hat were about 30 yrs old and had been passed between members over the years.  Each member now has a dress uniform to attend special events such as wakes, memorials, funerals and parades.
